Our challenge was to educate residents of Maine about the prevalence and symptoms of Lyme Disease—as well as what preventive measures they can take to protect themselves—with the goal of decreasing the number of Lyme Disease cases.
We strategized that an interactive experience would be an important way to engage our audience by visually outlining the problem and inviting readers/users to interact with the data and information. This level of involvement would offer clear and specific ways for Mainers to protect themselves and their families.
Inspired by our natural surroundings right here in Maine, we began by designing a series of illustrations that would feel appropriate and recognizable to our audience. Working from this illustration style we broke our messaging up into snackable sections that users could interact with easily. We offer access to the data, break it down, support it with compelling visuals, and provide with links to learn more. Users are meaningfully engaged and educated since they can click through and focus on information that’s relevant to them.
